Happy International Women’s Day!

To celebrate International Women’s Day, LilyBee #GirlBoss Stacia shares her thoughts and reflections on running a business and raising Little Bee...

"Being a woman in such a female focused brand fuels my passion for what we do every day. We hope to inspire connection and true change in the world and this so often happens in the front lines of our homes. Who better to speak to the needs of a women's heart and home than another woman? This change beautifully parallels the changes happening across the board in politics (I'm talking to you Jacinda!) and I consider it a privilege that I can hold the space for a woman's voice and perspective to be heard.

As a mother myself, I live with the reality that a mother rarely has a choice to seperate work and motherhood. I also realised I wouldn't want to. So it's all about finding balance and making sure everyone gets the attention they need but also cutting out anything that doesn't serve the things I have decided are important. This includes my own self care as well! Which is perhaps the easiest to overlook.

Raising a boy has been such a fascinating and joyous task. I only have sisters so once I discovered I was having a boy I decided to read more about them and healthy behaviours to encourage. He is raised in the home of a strong woman as his mother and at the same time his masculinity, interests, and emotions are celebrated as an individual and human being instead of being a specific sex. Celebrating our individuality and humanity and offering an example of strength within femininity as well as his own opportunity for celebration and honouring of his individuality and masculinity, is my hope for healthier humans.”

We’d love to hear from you! Join in the conversation on social media (tag @lilybeewrap), and share what female empowerment means to you.
